Fire Detection and Alarm System

Fire Alarm System The fire alarm systems are very useful, especially in fire hazard working environments (e.g. carpentry sheds), but are recommended for commercial spaces which present a fire risk: offices, halls, storages, etc. A fire alarm system can be composed of the following: fire alarm control panel (conventional, addressable), detectors (smoke, carbon monoxide, gas, temperature, combination), fire buttons, modules, sirens and opto-acoustic indicators.

Fire Alarm Control Panel – a system specialised in monitoring, receiving and interpreting inputs from the detectors or manual buttons. Choosing the control panel type is done considering the desired option, de site’s size, number of areas, etc. The fire alarm control panels are of 2 types: conventional and addressable. The conventional ones are recommended for small and medium sized sites. The addressable control panels work on the same principles, with the difference residing in the connection of the detection elements and the way the control panel reads and interprets inputs. The main advantage is that each device connected to the wheel is identified with a unique address, thus identifying the problem areas is easy. This way, the addressable system can have countless detection and signal elements.

Smoke Detectors – detect smoke from the burning of various materials and sends inputs to the fire alarm control panel.

Temperature Detectors – detect a temperature increase above the set level. They can function independently or integrated in a smoke detector.

Fire Buttons – used to manually warn a fire start.

Sirens – acoustically warn the start of a fire. Sirens can be used for indoor and outdoor. Indoor sirens can be chosen considering colour or design, and can be acoustic, flashing light, or both. Generally speaking, they do not have a battery. Outdoor sirens are built with a IP 55 or IP 65 protection, immune to environment conditions.
